Chief Engineer, Part-Time AI Engineering Project Design - Remote (United States)
OpenTrain AI• $200–$300 per hour
• 100% remote
• Part-time
• Flexible schedule
Design realistic mechanical engineering projects for AI training and evaluation on your own schedule.
AI companies need mechanical engineers to create and assess realistic assignments in mechanical design, manufacturing, testing, engineering analysis and technical project execution. Build each project around clear requirements, constraints, deliverables, responsibilities, dependencies and evaluation criteria, and use testing and root-cause analysis to support technical verification. Coordinate contributions across technical disciplines while assigning each complex engineering problem to a set of connected tasks. This is that work, done remotely around your schedule.
What you'll do
• Create projects that cover manufacturing and testing alongside mechanical design and engineering analysis
• Define measurable acceptance criteria alongside each project's design requirements and operating constraints
• Break down each engineering problem into tasks, and define its inputs, deliverables, dependencies and responsibilities
• Run testing to support technical verification and investigate root causes
Why this is worth your time
• Get paid $200–$300 an hour
• Apply your engineering leadership skills to projects in manufacturing and testing, mechanical design, and engineering analysis
• Build structured task sets from complex engineering workflows, with clear requirements and acceptance criteria
• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute
Who this is for
• Experience as a Chief Engineer or Senior Mechanical Engineer, or comparable technical leadership experience
• Expertise in multidisciplinary project leadership, mechanical design, engineering analysis, technical verification, testing, root-cause analysis, and design for manufacture and assembly
• Proficiency in English must be at B2 level or higher
• No AI experience needed.
Pay and details
