• $50–$70 per hour

• 100% remote

• Part-time

• Fully flexible schedule

Evaluate medical coding AI systems on your own schedule and help improve how they read and code inpatient hospital records.

AI training is the human work behind artificial intelligence: experts read what a model produces, decide whether it is right, and write the feedback that makes the next version better. AI systems learn from examples checked by coding experts, so the teams building them need credentialed inpatient coders who can tell whether coding data is accurate, complete and supported by the documentation. This is part-time contract work done remotely on a flexible schedule.

What you'll do

• Code inpatient documentation using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS across discharge summaries, progress notes, consultations, operative reports and admission notes

• Identify and sequence principal and secondary diagnoses, and assign Present on Admission indicators

• Validate MS-DRG assignments, including CC and MCC capture, and flag hospital-acquired conditions and patient safety indicators

• Apply UHDDS definitions, AHA Coding Clinic guidance and official ICD-10 guidance, and explain ambiguous documentation and complex cases clearly

Why this is worth your time

• Earn $50–$70 an hour reviewing inpatient records and coding data for medical AI systems

• Work on AI training data drawn from real inpatient documentation, from operative reports to discharge summaries

• Apply your inpatient coding judgment to annotation accuracy checks and clear written explanations

• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute

Who this is for

• Active credential: AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or AAPC Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)

• Hands-on inpatient coding experience

• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and MS-DRG methodology

• Able to use MS-DRG grouper tools, current code sets and official coding guidance

• Able to interpret varied inpatient documentation and resolve complex coding questions

• Clear communication in writing and verbally

• Professional fluency in English

• Helpful background includes acute care, teaching hospitals, specialty units, surgical, trauma, oncology, cardiology, or transplant cases.

• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; your judgment helps improve AI models.

Pay and details

• $50–$70 per hour, paid hourly as an independent contractor

• Part-time, flexible schedule; fully remote, United States
