$100 - $200 USD hourly

• $100–$200 per hour

• 100% remote

• Part-time

• Under 20 hours a week, you choose when

Work on the cutting edge of AI, on your own schedule, and get paid for the physics expertise you already have.

The AI systems everyone talks about are trained and tested by real experts. The teams building them need AMO physicists who can work through realistic, challenging physics questions, judge how well the AI handles them, and explain in clear writing exactly where its reasoning falls short. Your judgment becomes part of how the next generation of AI models handles specialized science. This is that work, done remotely around your current research or job.

What you'll do

• Review AI analyses that use configuration-interaction methods and first-principles quantum chemistry to determine polarizability in atomic systems

• Assess the AI's treatment of atomic-structure calculations for the Yb-171 and Yb-174 isotopes

• Explain clearly how sigma and pi transitions appear in atomic spectra

• Apply physical principles to identify gaps in the AI's technical reasoning and explain them with concrete examples

Why this is worth your time

• Get paid $100–$200 an hour to build real AI skills, on top of your current job

• Work directly with frontier AI tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most AMO physicists will not have for years

• Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping work across AMO physics, and the people who understand it from the inside will lead that change

• Fully remote, fully flexible, no minimum shift, no commute

Who this is for

• An advanced degree in Physics, or equivalent experience, centered on AMO physics or the optical properties of materials

• Proven experience using first-principles quantum chemistry methods and configuration-interaction approaches to study polarizability

• A strong grasp of atomic-structure computation for ytterbium, especially Yb-171 and Yb-174, and the ability to explain sigma versus pi transitions clearly

• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; your judgment helps improve AI models.

Pay and details

• $100–$200 per hour, paid hourly as an independent contractor

• Under 20 hours a week, you choose when; fully remote, United States
