Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Part-Time AI Model Work - Remote (United States)
OpenTrain AIAgency post: OpenTrain AI is a hiring intermediary and lists this role for a client.
• $60–$120 per hour equivalent, paid per accepted task
• 100% remote
• Part-time
• About 15 hours a week, you choose when
Create and check demanding machine learning engineering tasks on your own schedule and help AI systems get better at real model work.
AI training is the human work behind artificial intelligence: experts read what a model produces, decide whether it is right, and write the feedback that makes the next version better. AI systems that write machine learning code need engineers who understand training and inference, numerical computing and performance, so the teams building them need ML engineers who can design hard tasks and verify results objectively. This is part-time contract work done remotely on a flexible schedule.
What you'll do
• Create, solve, review and validate hard ML engineering tasks covering model building, training and inference
• Write or change model components, data pipelines, evaluation systems and numerical methods
• Tune memory use and throughput, and track down numerical or system-level bugs
• Use Python, the command line and coding agents to build workflows anyone can reproduce, then check the results are correct
Why this is worth your time
• Build practical AI machine learning evaluation skills while earning the equivalent of $60–$120 an hour on ML engineering tasks
• Work on AI systems learning to build, train, serve and debug machine learning models
• Apply your machine learning judgment to model code, performance tuning and correctness checks
• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute
Who this is for
• Master's or PhD in computer science, machine learning, AI, applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a closely related quantitative field
• Strong professional or research experience in machine learning
• Practical skill with Python and coding agents
• Experience building reproducible, programmatic workflows and checking technical correctness
• Depth in at least one of ML systems, numerical computing, performance optimization or inference workflows
• Fluent in English
• Exceptional open-source or academic work can show relevant depth
• Helpful background includes work at an established technology company, AI laboratory, research organization, or recognized engineering environment, and tools such as PyTorch, JAX, NumPy/SciPy, SGLang, vLLM, llama.cpp, tokenizers, and transformers; prior AI training work is not required.
Pay and details
• $60–$120 per hour equivalent; pay is per accepted task, as an independent contractor
• Part-time, flexible schedule; fully remote, United States
